chin up, beautiful.

at school we have what is called pastoral care. apparently, someone invented pastoral care so that a student can feel united with his or her peers, and do some learning. every week, we would learn how to manage our stress, lives, time etc. i don't know what happened, but this idea sunk very very low. the reality of things is that pastoral care consists of a heap of girls on their phones squealing now and then at some comment or 'like' on facebook, and a heap of sly remarks coming from the boys, and a tired, stressed teacher. i usually kick back with my friends, and prepare for the worst.

today was different. today we started talking about anorexia, and bulimia, and how society has handed us such a distorted image of women that it is hurting girls. daily.
i have a friend whom i care for, and today she burst into tears. i asked her what was wrong and she said that she was afraid.
i asked her why and she said that she was being forced to put on weight. basically at some point last year this girl had thought she was fat, and had started dieting.
first the desert went, then the bread, then the veggies and she had become consumed by a little voice in her mind.
'thinner, come one you can do it, thinner'.
(now, she is seeing help, and has a circle of friends who support her, and who tell her that being healthy and feeling good from the inside is the only thing that can make you beautiful)

in pastoral care today we started talking about ellen degeneres' partners novel: unbearable lightness which talked about these issues.
for a split second the girls and boys and teachers sent out a thought for those girls, and even boys, who were suffering from these ugly, ugly thoughts, and who felt trapped and what they thought were ugly, ugly bodies.

after that, the girls kept on giggling about their facebook accounts, and the boys resumed their nasty weird boy-gossiping. but there was that split-second. i swear there was.

please, if you are in this situation and trying to get out, i want you to know something.

wild typewritten pages i

The Hunger Games.

There. I said it. It is the most awesomest phenomenalest greatest coolest actionpackedest bestest book ever! And it is my baby. And I love it so. It has become and obsession of mine. Would you like to know the best feeling in the world? Curling up with the red hard cover book Jess lent me, the one with the black mocking jay on the front and reading for hours and hours, and giggling, crying, smiling and aching for these realistic characters. Entering the world, the sad, but wonderful world of Katniss Everdeen, aged 16, a strong, passionate fighter; who is fighting to be free, alongside Gale (whom I have a not-so-secret crush on) and Peeta, her best friend and lover -- though she hasn't decided which is which (Jacob vs Edward anybody?).

Sigh.

THR's 'Hunger Games' Cover Shoot

Anyways, don't mind me looking out into the distance dreaming up fantasies, mainly involving Gale. On to some other news -- because it has been a while since I have posted on my blog -- I am writing a book at the moment, it is called 'The Wild Written Pages' and it documents my life. It documents my thoughts and my dreams, it is a piece of me to be read when I am twenty something and I thought I was just 'so cute'. Pah, I'm not cute. Since it's super private, I'll only be sharing parts of it here. So, here it goes:

At our Deli, every Friday, there is this girl that has pale red hair and green eyes. She is the sort of person that you can’t help but admire. She is very delicate and her hair is always in a loose bun that peeks under her ‘Deli’ cap. She smiles a lot and seems to like her job. She seems to be soaking in the scents of fresh olives and Parmesan cheese, the sights of the perfectly round, and slightly fury peaches and the aura of each person. Anouk and I call her the ‘Pretty Girl’. I bet that at 6:45 PM she slowly unties her black apron, folds it carefully and with it in her hand she walks to her boss, and say ‘Mike, is there anything else I can do?’ and he would shake his head ‘No, you enjoy your Friday evening, hon, you’ve done enough’. She would smile, say bye to the Deli, and walk off in her T-Shirt and skinny jeans. She would jump in her parent’s old dark green car, back up, and drive off. She would put on one of her favourite CDs and dance to the rhythm of the music. Then, she would park at her apartment, hop out, grab her handbag and fumble with the keys. Once she’d be in, she would flop down on her couch and grab one of the numerous books she owned – a worn copy of the ‘Hunger Games’, open it and start reading, reading and reading far into the night she would read.
I wonder if, in the future, someone might think about me as the girl who sits on the parks’ bench reading every Saturday or that young woman who works at the Movies for a bit of money and smiles to everyone who asks for a ticket… Someone they could look up to.

Hope you liked it! Be excited, because far more little snippets to come. (This does NOT mean I'm abandoning 'My Words And I', I'm just trying out something new)

fifty cents, just to inspire me

Today is the school "fête".
Rides, and food, and friends, and music, and stalls, and baking up a storm for the food stalls, and confetti. I don't know don't fete's always have confetti? No, well ours does.

The life of a Teenager

I'll sign off, now, and if you are wondering about the title: this morning, my little sister half asleep was wondering around with a 50 cent coin her hand, I asked her why she was holding money and she said that she wanted to donate it to the orangutan rescue fondation, she said, she'd start with 50 c just to "inspire her".

seizing the day

Hello beautiful people!

This is my 81th post; and "My words and I"'s birthday is coming up quite soon.

Lately, I've thought a lot about seizing the day. I've thought about waking up in the morning and thinking "Okay, today is going to be a lovely day, and exciting day" And even if bad somehow seeps into my life, at least I can hold me head high and carry this thought into my heart.
Even school days, the long hours of class, if I look at them in the way that they could enrich me, and that I could thirst for knowledge and books, then it is possible to enjoy these days.

Certain people, actually only one person,  has done a lot to bring me down, to make me stumble, trip and hurt myself. But I have kept a proud heart, and with the help of family, friends and even teachers I have won. I have burst through the surface and finally, I am free.

Free to touch the sky

Treat your days like gems: precious, valuable and beautiful.

With love,

Not really, just that I love having you for a friend.

Lovely having you Caro, thanks.

I have found a real nice website: { weheartit.com }
It's a site with hundreds of inspirational pictures and it's absolutely stunning.

I'm now using "Piknic.com" (or is it "Picnik.com"?) to edit my pictures. I'm getting more into photography now than ever.

I'm also going to try out for a basketball team. I used to do swimming & tennis as sports. But now I'm giving them a break and lean towards the hoops.

Alright,
I'll post more words and pictures soon.
