my camera

Okay, I have news. No, not wimpy or unfortunate news. No. My news is bigger than an obese elephant in a bright pink bikini. My news is bigger than the distance from here to Pluto (where I shall no doubt have a tea party) and back. My news is bigger than my dream mars bar (which is pretty darn big). My news is that...

I have my NikonD3100!

I am so unbelievably happpy, I could hug I pineapple or something. Since, my mum forgot to get a pineapple yesterday at the fruit markets, I will give virtual hugs.

to you. and you. you at the back, i don't like you, go away. and to you. and to the baby. and you too!

I'm so happy I might explode. I've been saving for a little less than a year, and in that period of time I have NOT spent a single penny.

Now if you excuse me I shall go run around squealing and dancing in celebration.

With a lota love,

Lotus

fifty cents, just to inspire me

Today is the school "fête".
Rides, and food, and friends, and music, and stalls, and baking up a storm for the food stalls, and confetti. I don't know don't fete's always have confetti? No, well ours does.

I love Ferris Wheels | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

The life of a Teenager

I'll sign off, now, and if you are wondering about the title: this morning, my little sister half asleep was wondering around with a 50 cent coin her hand, I asked her why she was holding money and she said that she wanted to donate it to the orangutan rescue fondation, she said, she'd start with 50 c just to "inspire her".

love. love. love?

A child grows up with "love". At the age of 4, a parent reads to the child a story, at the end of the fairy tale, the prince and the princess fall madly in love and live happily ever after. At the age of 9, a girl listens to music on her "hand-me-down" black iPod, songs that are always about love. Love gone wrong and love gone right. At the age of 13, the young girl  has her first real crush. A small little secret that she can keep in her heart safe and sound. A little bud that she waters every evening when the sun sets. A topic of conversation when talking to her friends eating lunch at school. At the age of 16, the young lady has fallen in love. At the age of 63, the elderly woman has had a life full of smiles, sunshine and love.

As you have concluded I am the "young 13 year old girl". That is why that part is the most detailed, because I am living it now.

With love,
Zoé

seizing the day

Hello beautiful people!

This is my 81th post; and "My words and I"'s birthday is coming up quite soon.

Lately, I've thought a lot about seizing the day. I've thought about waking up in the morning and thinking "Okay, today is going to be a lovely day, and exciting day" And even if bad somehow seeps into my life, at least I can hold me head high and carry this thought into my heart.
Even school days, the long hours of class, if I look at them in the way that they could enrich me, and that I could thirst for knowledge and books, then it is possible to enjoy these days.

Certain people, actually only one person,  has done a lot to bring me down, to make me stumble, trip and hurt myself. But I have kept a proud heart, and with the help of family, friends and even teachers I have won. I have burst through the surface and finally, I am free.

Free to touch the sky

Treat your days like gems: precious, valuable and beautiful.

With love,
Zoé

dear winter

Dear Winter,

Thank you for your twinkling, fresh, crisp mornings,
For the hot wattle bottles and steaming mugs,
For the colourful scarves and warm gloves,
For the sound of crunching beneath my boots,
For the pale, pale blue skies and white birds flying through these,
For the laughs and stories around the fire,
And the hot mushroom soup,
For the sharp wind making my face go numb and my cheeks, red

I've enjoyed your company.

Dear Spring,

Hello.

to fairy tales and magic

There's always been a point in one's childhood where one's asked their parents the nagging question:
"Are they real?"
The countless of stories, fairy tales, classics, books, "Once Upon A Time"s. Are they real? When receiving the unsatisfying answer (that being: "I'm sorry honey, but no...") some - most - choose to believe in princesses feeling peas and princes slaying mighty dragons, that magic really does exist and that sitting for days in a musty cupboard will result to meeting Mr. Tumnus. And I do. I want(ed) to receive a letter on my 11th birthday inviting me to Hogwarts, I want to be able to become invisible like Violet and own a garden full of sweets and edible grass, I want to tumble down a rabbit's whole and eat a superb looking cake that makes me grow.

"We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams"
"Everything in this room is eatable. In fact even I am eatable, but that is called cannibalism my dear children and is frowned upon in most civilizations"
“So much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.”
“We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams”
“So much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.”“A little nonsense now and then, is cherished by the wisest men.”

Guest Post || Sophie

I have Sophie here with me at school, we have a break, so I've decided to ask her personality questions:

What do you like to do on a rainy afternoon?

I'd like to read books or put a hoodie on and go outside and enjoy the rain.

Do you enjoy photography?

I don't have a camera and don't take many pictures, but I do enjoy looking at inspiring pictures, like the ones on Zoé's blog!

What are some of your favourite songs?

I like "Your love is my drug" by Kei$ha and "Animal" also by her.

So you have a moto, or an inspiring group of words you would like to share?

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass but learning to dance in the rain", and my other one "Keep going there is always good ahead" which means that every day there will always be something nice that will make your day, even if you don't know about it yet.

What is your favourite herb, flower or plant?
{She's quite into herbal medicine :) }

I like, lavender because if its' medical uses and it smells nice. I also really love snow drops.

Which holiday (Easter, Christmas or your Birthday) do you prefer?

Christmas is probably my favourite because you get to receive chocolate, toys and other fun things and others too, so you can enjoy your presents together.

Do you wear jewelry? What is your favourite item?

If I wear jewelry it would be simple, pretty and meaningful to me - with a sentimental value. I would wear it almost always and would keep great care of it. I love charms and pendants, so necklaces.

Lastly what is the genre of book that you prefer?

Mythology and Adventure. Also Fantasy. Such as Harry Potter (7) & Percy Jackson.

Thank you Sophie! You have been awesome! Thanks for giving my blog a moment of your time.

Thanks, it's an honor to be on your blog.

My words and I

I've decided to rename my blog to:
My words and I

My Button

{Grab my button on the right hand side}

What do you think? And, I've redesigned my blog. :)

I am in the middle of the 40 hour famine. I have not talked for 16 hours! It's much harder than one would think, but also quite easy. It's difficult in the way that if there is a great song on the radio, I either want to scream "Yes! I love this song" or sing along. Or I have to assess every thought that slips into my mind and if it is important enough to write it down on my whiteboard to share to my family. But it's great because I really see the world in a different perspective. See, I'm talkative and bubbly, I'm the kind of person who doesn't mind being the center of attention, when I walk into a room, in two minutes I'm telling a story, or a joke, or laughing loudly. That's me. But now, in these 16 hours, I've observed a lot silently. I've gotten to to know the calm Zoé. I've meditated, and I think I've grown wiser.

It feels nice. Sort of like the difference of big, bright sparkly lights used for stage lighting, that change colour and have all these effects; and the home-y lights, the ones that you use to write in your journal, the lights that know your secrets, that are yellow not white, that are just as pretty, but a little subdued.

I'm the same me, just slightly subdued.

169072_190140444338336_178136118872102_686309_6666188_n_large

I had wanted to call my best friend, S. , and ask her how she was going - she's doing the actual famine, but with friends so it's a bit easier for her. But as I couldn't talk, I decided against it. A while later, the phone rang. My mum got it and it was S. I was elated. My mum told her that I could not talk and she said that she knew but wanted to talk to me.

Then, I said these three words: "Je suis là" Which, in french means:
"I am here"

I was so upset. My mum handed me the phone and S talked. It was lovely to hear her voice, even though it had only been a day since I saw her. She talked and, I so wanted to tell her I was listening.

Anyway, once she hung up, I was so upset I had said those three words. My mum told me that it was the same as the people who do the famine. They have a small bowl of rice at the beginning of the day and one at the end, for them not to faint. Those three words were my bowls of rice. She also told me that I had not said these words because I had had enough of staying silent, but because they came from my heart.

I hope I will still be able to receive the $ 300 I've raised and give to starving children around the world.
I really do.

Mini Breakdown

Hello again my gorgeous blog,

So, yesterday I had a mini breakdown about all the horrible things in this cruel world, and I decided to write a poem:

Pollution, Poverty and Starvation.
Cries of anguish and fear,
Resonating in my heart,
The world so big, so cruel, so harsh.

And then there's me.
Don't know how what or how to start.
Salty tears, no hope, just grime.

Broken souls.

I hear something faint and beautiful,
I look up and at last see a glimmer,
Nothing stable, but there at least,

Comforting and sweet,
I feel elated, on top of the world.
Flickering candles, Friendly people and Bright flowers.

Colour seeps into my world.

Basically, have compassion and try to help in every way possible, but, please don't forget your luck and life.

Dialogue My sister and my dad:

Sister: Papa?
Dad: Mmm. [On iPad, distracted]
Sister: What do you do when you get fustrated? [Fustrated because of Gameboy game]
Dad: I sleep. [Still distracted]
Sister: Noo, but when you really can't do something and get fustrated.
Dad: [Finally paying attention] You start again and again.
Sister: Really?
Dad: Yeah, if you put your mind to it, you can do anything.
Sister: Oh.

It's lovely to listen sometimes, to kids and adults alike. They inspire me.

Hugs & Kisses.

Tinkly

You know when you get the feeling you're a big blue butterfly, ready to spring up into the air.
The feeling of total freedom and having accomplished more than a few things.
The feeling of being pure and fresh.
The type of feeling that when it's raining, you want to dance and sing and laugh outside, getting drenched.
Or, when it's sunny you want to run hours and hours on end. Barefoot, close to the Earth, eating fruit and absorbing the light.
The feeling that you heart is bursting, and not the ugly way: not bursting with sorrow, but with joy and peacefulness.
You know that feeling?

Yes, so do I.
